Healing Starts With Being Truly Seen.
OUR STORY
Too many people come to therapy after years of being told — directly or indirectly — that their pain isn't valid. That they should be stronger. That they're too much, or not enough.
Unmasked Minds Psychotherapy LLC was founded to change that narrative.
We believe that real healing happens when people feel genuinely safe — not just clinically assessed. When they're met with cultural understanding, not cookie-cutter approaches. When they're seen as whole human beings, not diagnoses.
Our name says it all: we invite you to take off the mask you've been wearing — the one that says you're fine, you're managing, you've got it handled — and finally show up as your truest self.

"Mental health care should feel like coming home — not walking into a courtroom."

MEET THE FOUNDER
Jamal Sanders, LPC (Virginia) & LMHC (Florida), founded Unmasked Minds Psychotherapy because he believes that healing isn't a luxury — it's a right.
With a background rooted in compassion, cultural awareness, and evidence-based practice, Jamal specializes in working with individuals who have spent too long putting everyone else first.
His approach isn't about telling you what to do. It's about helping you rediscover what you already know — and building the courage to live it.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, Jamal brings a rich blend of clinical expertise and genuine human connection to every session.
His therapeutic toolkit includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered approaches — always adapted to the unique story of each individual he works with.
Jamal's approach is direct but compassionate, evidence-based but never cold. He believes therapy should challenge you — gently — to grow into the version of yourself you've always known was possible.
